In 2000, I got news that felt like winning the lottery: I got my first teaching contract in Newark Public Schools! I was overjoyed and continue to have passion for this profession.

My beloved grandmother Nellie Richardson and her twin Nettie were teachers. They were also seamstresses, cooks, gardeners, writers, singers, etc.

I don’t think I have ever met a teacher that wasn’t multi-talented. Some of the best singing, dancing, comedy, painting, cooking, etc. has come from the minds and hands of teachers.

Hireateacher.org gathers those talents into one safe place where they can showcase their full range and serve the community on their time and terms.

It has been my honor to serve as a teacher in schools around America. It is my dream to transform other teachers’ lives with this endeavor. I’ve held onto this idea for too long. It’s time for the HAT app to be born.

I appreciate your support.
